You know the ones that you use to stall working, interacting with other people or face life? This quiz asked who were the five celebrities you a have a crush on. After posting mine, I found myself fascinated to see five of the guys I have off and on adored. That got me thinking, what other “loves” have I not collected into one place that reflected who I really am? I realized that if I started grouping and then revealing my true loves it would surprise many people who think they know me.

But then, does anybody really know the real you? You know, the true you? If you’re reading this post, I doubt it. The real you is hidden beneath many layers of your habits, weight gain, and addictions, It was probably suppressed by the opinions of parents, friends, spouses, co-workers, your children, religions and society at large. Want to know something funny? You really can’t bury who you really are without repercussions. They will come out sooner or later.

There are two books I highly recommend for confronting and embracing the true you. Yes, I own them and yes, I’m doing the work in releasing the true me.

One is Truth Heals by Deborah King. Deborah points out that our secrets suppress our inner truth and that we need to speak our truth.

Another great book is Debbie Ford’s “Why Good People Do Bad Things.” This book is really great at explaining why bottling up our feelings about ourselves can set off negative actions towards others and ourselves.

What are you hiding? Not just from others but from yourself? I’m not just talking about what you consider bad but also the good. I recommend journaling to learn more about your truth within. Write down all your secret passions, loves, what you want to do in life, and find out who your really want to be. Your true self.

Why We Should All Take Note of Susan Boyle’s New Fame

http://www.yourtruthwithin.com/1/post/2009/04/why-we-should-all-take-note-of-susan-boyles-new-fame.html

http://www.yourtruthwithin.com/1/post/2009/04/why-we-should-all-take-note-of-susan-boyles-new-fame.html#comments

Uncategorized

I’ve watched the You Tube Video of Susan Boyles’ performance on Britain’s Got Talent at least 50 times. If you haven’t by chance seen it watch it now: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9lp0IWv8QZY

My favorite moment of this video is when she sings the first 6 words of the song “I Dreamed a Dream” from the musical Les Miserable. Those six words transformed the world. In that moment, the 30-year-old myth was dispelled that you have to be perfect in order to showcase your talents and gifts.

The generations beneath mine have been brought up to believe in order to get a record contract you need to be beautiful with a perfect body, especially if you are a woman. Singing voices can be digitally manufactured nowadays. It’s all about the image on
videos. For those of us born before 1970, we remember a time when the first view of a singer or group was on the cover of an album. We had Elton John and David Bowie with their truly unique styles but we were really buying their music despite their looks not because of them. Then came MTV and the music world changed. Side note: Listen to “Video Killed the Radio Star” by the Buggles one more time.

Back to Susan Boyle. Watch her facial expressions as she notes how the audience responds to her. Look at the way she carries herself when she is on stage versus when she is off of it. On stage her posture is tall, her head held high. She blows kisses at the audience like she’s a star. Underneath that unaltered, untouched 47-year-old face is a confident, beautiful singer. You only have to see her smile to see her true, inner beauty. Remember that beauty, because surely she will change physically as make-up artists pluck her eyebrows and shape her face with cosmetics. A hairstylist will come along and blow out those curls and give her a current, modern style.

People may be asking what took her so long to come out and share her singing gifts. I suspect that she is one of those late bloomers you hear about, busy caring for others before allowing herself to shine. Also, she was probably made fun of and not seen with much respect except maybe by those who truly cared about her.

We all should admire her for stepping out and allowing herself to shine despite the odds against her. But most of all, we should admire her for not allowing her age to stop her in a youth-filled world. She’s a reminder to all of us that it’s NEVER too late. I hope to see her on Broadway some day.

Daily Inspirations

http://www.yourtruthwithin.com/1/post/2009/03/daily-inspirations.html

http://www.yourtruthwithin.com/1/post/2009/03/daily-inspirations.html#comments

Uncategorized

Every week day morning I receive emails from two great sources. The great thing about these two emails is that they always seem to match what I want or need at any given moment. For instance, yesterday I was feeling a little blue about living as an introvert in a extroverted world. Long story, too much drama to report. This morning I get these two emails that changed my entire outlook for today:

The first one came from and TUT.com said:

Never underestimate, Sherrie, how many friends you have, how close you are, and how much fun you're going to have.

Because, as you've seen throughout your entire amazing life, one usually gets exactly what they've been estimating. You thrill me, The Universe

Then the second one from Neale Donald Walsch says:

On this day of your life, Sherrie, I believe God wants you to know.......that it does no good to think in any way negatively about yourself. Not even a little good. Please don't confuse humility with self-deprecation. You have had enough thoughts about why you're not "worthy" to carry you through two lifetimes. You can stop now. Besides, none of those thoughts were accurate anyway. Most of them were exaggerations, and some of them were completely "made up." If you're feeling dissatisfied, lethargic, overwhelmed or unhappy, you know you're not in alignment. Whatever you're feeling is a good sign of what you're attracting more of, so this is good information to have. It gives you somewhere to start.

So, if you don't want low energy, or more bills than money, or feeling disconnected with yourself or others, or struggle with something - what is it you'd really like?

Not having what you want gives you the opportunity to expand into a bigger life. It tells you where your focus has been and gives you the chance to gain clarity in order to attract something different.

Not having what you want is your point of power. That feeling of dissatisfaction is a gift. It's there to bring something into awareness. You then have the choice to realign with your true self by making your real desire conscious.

You can immediately shift your energy.

1. Using this worksheet, take a look at each of these areas in your life. What don't you want?

Career/Work - whether paid or not
Knowledge & Self Cultivation: inner peace, learning something new
Health & Family: your health, relationships with family members
Wealth & Prosperity: flow of money, reserves, growth of your business, gratitude, ease around money
Fame & Reputation: how visible you are in your business, how well known, what you're known for, how others see you.
Love & Relationships: your relationship, friendships
Children & Creativity: completing projects, communication, creativity
Helpful People & Travel: expansion in your business, travel, mentors, anyone who can help you
Although it's not a good idea to put too much focus on what you don't want - this exercise will be brief. Most people put a lot of focus on the things they do not want - and that's where it stops, so they get even more of it.

2. Beside each thing you do not want, write what is it you DO want. Turn it into the positive and write something specific. What I didn't want was to feel frustrated and have regrets about how I spent my time in NZ. Getting clear that what I really wanted was to leave NZ feeling I had made the most of this time shifted my focus and then it was easy to come up with something that would move me towards that: spending quality time with someone in my family each day.

If you're feeling lethargic, perhaps what you really want is to feel energized and inspired. Once you've got focused on that you can come up with some actions that will move you in this direction - perhaps drink a green smoothie each day! Perhaps declutter your closet.

Do this and you'll be amazed how fast your energy shifts.

3. Now what's one action you can take today? Clear that closet, ask a friend for support, find and sign up for the dance class you'd love to take?

Whenever you feel frustrated, dissatisfied or overwhelmed with something - that's your point of power. Something is out of alignment. If you find yourself thinking about what you don't want - debt, extra pounds, lack of purpose.... ask yourself what you do want.

When you do this you're using your personal guidance system - your emotions - to raise your energy and come into alignment with your true self - that magnificent, limitless, open to all possibilities, self.

And this is how the Law of Attraction works.

Now, what is it you DO want?

Come to my blog. I'd love to hear what it is YOU really want if you'd like to give it more power by putting it out there.

©2009 Vicky White - All Rights Reserved

WANT TO USE THIS ARTICLE IN YOUR E-ZINE OR WEBSITE? Please do! It means telling the truth about what is good and what is supposedly bad about yourself and live in peace with that truth. Great change only comes from acceptance of what is and what isn't. Moving forward comes from the totality of who you are at this moment. Are you overweight? Realize that maybe the deeper meaning of that weight was brought on to protect you from something. Are you in financial distress? Maybe you need to focus on that what is not working in your life emotionally. When you accept where you are, you can then move forward to where you want to go.

Follow the road that leads away from your "undesired" place by focusing on where you are at this moment. Find peace that you are actually where you are supposed to be in order to find the path to where you are supposed to go. No apologies, no regrets.

The Importance of YOU!

http://www.yourtruthwithin.com/1/post/2008/12/the-importance-of-you.html

http://www.yourtruthwithin.com/1/post/2008/12/the-importance-of-you.html#comments

Uncategorized

Someone sent me a link to this video.
